Welcome! In today's video I'll be restoring an 1890s entry mortise lock set which was manufactured by Branford Lock Works. Branford called this the "Oriental" design in their catalogs. This antique cast iron and bronze lockset was not very rusty but quite crusty and in need of a refurbishment. Though there wasn't the usual 20 layers of paint on this set, Branford seemingly used japanning in the recessed areas of their ornamental hardware, making it very difficult to paint strip.
